Tip the Farmer™
Coffee farmers around the world are paying more to produce coffee than they are able to sell it for, which makes it hard for farmers to earn a living wage. We’re ecstatic to participate in @bellwethercoffee’s Tip the Farmer™ program, a first-of-a-kind program, that helps farmers earn a fair wage and invest in their own futures by empowering coffee drinkers to tip the producers behind each cup, and every whole bean coffee purchase made from our roastery supports these farmers directly
The program has already been particularly beneficial over the past year. Asociación de Productores Agropecuarios de Café Especial de Planadas (ASOPEP) was the first beneficiary of @bellwethercoffee’s Tip the Farmer™ program. An initial $3000 was distributed to ASOPEP in April 2020, just in-time to help them mitigate the risk of spread of COVID-19. ASOPEP purchased PPE for all of the healthcare workers. They also launched an initiative to deliver essential services to producers living outside of town to protect producers from contracting the coronavirus.
By partnering with us, you are choosing to purchase certain green coffees that benefit the producers on a global scale. That’s the kind of economic sustainability we are striving for!

FARM STORIES
There is a story to share about the farmer behind every cup, and every coffee we sell is traceable to its place of origin. Our marketplace gives you access to the people who grow the coffee and to their stories. You can learn about their farm, family, and operation, as well as what they care about when it comes to their own businesses

producer relationships
We partner with incredible importers and green buyers who travel to origin to develop direct relationships with producers. Through these relationships, we gain a better understanding of the challenges producers face, like how much it costs to produce coffee.
